Former President Donald Trump annihilated former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley in the Republican Presidential Caucuses throughout the state of Missouri, and I was honored to be in the room to participate in the caucus held in my county.
Forming what largely looked like a sea of red, 258 participated in this county. When the floor was opened to begin presidential nominations, a woman gave her name and then nominated “Nikki Haley.” Silence ensued. No claps, cheers, whistles, or sounds at all. The next nomination came from a gentleman who gave his name and said, “I nominate Donald J. Trump!” Applause broke out.
As there were no other nominations, it was time to vote. Haley received ten votes, and the rest went to Trump, 248. Cheering erupted in the arena.
Since Trump’s former U.N. ambassador failed to get 15%, she received no delegates.
We then moved on to other business.
So less than 15 minutes into the caucus, Trump was already the man of the hour, but the caucus was not over. It actually lasted two hours total. The rest of the time was spent on motions and voting to amend various aspects of the Missouri Republican platform. This was my first caucus, as I wrote about here. The whole process was rather interesting and was a clear indication of the times in which we live and the concerns we have as Missourians and Americans. More about that and the caucus as a whole in my upcoming podcast, where I’ll share some videos and pictures.
Trump did not just dominate the caucus in my county; he dominated the entirety of Missouri. Haley received no delegates at all, as the Associated Press chart below reveals.
Trump took to Truth Social to thank the Show Me State for our support, posting the following:
She got totally smoked. She deserved it, too!
