The excitement revolving around women’s basketball this season, particularly the NCAA tournament, is not without controversy. One example is a question OutKick’s Dan Zaksheske posed during a press conference the day before Sunday’s championship game.
South Carolina Coach Dawn Staley’s team emerged victorious in the matchup against a team fueled by point guard phenom Caitlin Clark, whose exciting play and exemplary skill are credited with the historic viewership of college women’s basketball, but as many as are talking about that, South Carolina’s undefeated season, and Clark’s record-breaking collegiate career, many are also talking about Staley’s answer to Zaksheske’s question—some applauding it, others criticizing it.

Iowa Coach Lisa Bluder was asked the same question hours later, and she took a different approach, which hasn’t been talked about much, and, no doubt, many don’t even know about because all attention is on Staley’s controversial reply.
So what about me? What are my thoughts on the coaches’ responses, and what would mine have been?
That’s where I stand on how Staley and Bluder wrongly and wisely, respectively, handled the question and how I would have—correctly—handled it.

You did a good job Adrian and you were absolutely right that was the correct answer. Men should play against men and women should play against women end of story.
