Some Say Trump Should Dump Vance; Here's Why That's a Bad Move
Talk is out there that former President Donald Trump may dump Sen. JD Vance from the 2024 ticket and choose another running mate. There’s actually even more talk that he should. I have no inside info, but l can pinpoint a few reasons this is a colossally bad idea.
Many are less than impressed with Vance as Trump’s selection—some from the beginning, others after realizing he comes with controversy, particularly some comments he made about “childless cat ladies” and a photo that some are claiming is Vance in drag. Although Vance’s point about far-leftists denigrating the family and the value of having children is a valid one, we all could have done without the insult. The barb being hurled against him for this and his stances overall is that he’s “weird,” a childish insult from Vice President Kamala Harris’s running mate, Tim Walz, and the Democrats’ media lapdogs. Walz has gone so far as to call the Trump-Vance combo “creepy” and “weird as hell.”
It’s an insult that seems to have gotten under Trump’s skin. He once even separated himself from Vance by saying it’s Vance they’re calling weird, not him, and then addressing the attack against both of them by saying, “No, we're not weird. We're very solid people. We want to have strong borders. We want to have good elections.” He added, “I think we're the opposite of weird. They’re weird.”
But there’s the photo of Vance at Yale Law School dressed in what some call drag attire. His campaign, from what I understand, has not answered questions about this, and as far as we know, he could have been at a costume party, but it doesn’t help with the “weird” slur, and it’s another reason some feel Trump should kick him to the curb. We all know the left will do any and everything to make a Republican appear to be a hypocrite. Vance, presenting himself as a wholesome man with Christian values dressing in drag doesn’t go over well.
Here’s the deal, though. We do know that no matter who the Republican VP candidate is, the left will go hard after him or her, right? So there’s no sense in giving in to the pressure of foes or friends, for that matter. Vance may not have been my pick for Trump, but he was Trump’s pick, and he does have a tremendous upside.
