The mainstream media continue to take a hit after the election of President-elect Donald Trump.
The results of the election were, no doubt, affected by establishment media losing credibility with the American media. Independent journalists and podcasters are growing in popularity. It’s been building for some time, and if anyone thought the bleeding would stop after the election, they were wrong. Far-left MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow is one of those being affected.
The Washington Free Beacon reported that in addition to Comcast parting ways with MSNBC, Maddow is taking a $5 million dollar pay cut. Yes, her salary is dropping by $5 million dollars. Yes, that means she makes more than $5 million dollars, somehow. To be specific, after the—did I say?— $5 million dollar drop in pay, she will still make $25 million dollars over the next three years. That’s decent pay for hackery, but it’s still a reduction to match, I suppose, the reduction of people willing to eat what MSNBC is serving up.
The Free Beacon reports that “MSNBC's ratings are down 40 percent compared to this time last year. In the week following the election, the network drew just 65,000 primetime viewers in the coveted 25-54 age demographic, less than 10 percent of total viewers.”
This week has been a tough week also for MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, who fed their fanbase with ugliness about Donald Trump: racist, fascist, threat to life, you know the usual accusations. No, that wasn’t the problem for those who tune in for it. The you-know-what hit the fan this week when they announced they took a little trip out to Mar-a-Lago last week to speak with the President-elect and “restart communications.” This was seen as a betrayal and outraged people, who couldn’t figure out why they would spend time yucking it up with “Hitler.” Even Rosie O’Donnell blew a gasket about it. She took to social media to post a video, saying, “So Mika and Joe went down to Mar-a-Lago to kiss the ring. It’s the last time I ever watch Morning Joe. Period. End of statement. Unreal. Unreal.” She went on to state, “For months, you were telling us he’s the worst thing that could happen to this country and democracy, and then you go kiss his ring? Despicable. Despicable you, both of you.”
