Life Begins at PERception
“Perception is reality” is a common expression, which highlights that what people perceive to be true is true for them. “Perceive” is the key word. The saying “whether you believe you can or you believe you can’t, you’re right” comes to mind. Life, too, is a matter of perception.
Many, if not most, of us have spent our lives looking for the next thing: the next birthday; the next milestone; the next achievement, such as graduation; the next interview; the next recognition. We will have arrived when the next thing comes: Sweet 16, first date, marriage, children. Oh, when x, y, and z happen, life will have finally begun!
So when I say that life begins at perception, I’m saying that many of us spend most of our lives looking for the thing that qualifies us. Until we realize that none of those external factors defines who we are or determines our purpose, we will be suspended in space and lingering in limbo.
