I Disagree with the ‘Black National Anthem’ at the Super Bowl but Also Disagree with Kari Lake Sitting for It
The first part of my headline is likely to annoy liberal black folks, and the second part will get me in trouble with conservatives, but if you know anything about me, you know I don’t really give a rip about making nice with people at the expense of what I believe in. Maybe Kari Lake felt the same way about sitting while most others stood. Well, at least hear me out. It’s kind of funny because I was one of three people watching the Super Bowl together, the only black one—and the only one who took exception to the singing of what used to be called the “Negro national anthem,” which I notice everyone calling the “black national anthem” now. I’ll explain my stance. And I’ll also explain how I can disagree with making it a part of the Super Bowl but still believe former candidate for governor in Arizona Kari Lake should have stood during it.
