Nikki Haley suspended her presidential campaign on Wednesday morning. If the previous elections were not a clear message that she had no pathway to the Republican presidential nomination, Super Tuesday sure was.
As news emerged that she would end her run, the inevitable question resounded from political minds and mouths: “Will Nikki Haley endorse Donald Trump?” This was her opportunity to unite the party, but she chose not to do so. Instead, she said this: “I congratulate him and wish him well.”
This is not going over well with Republicans; some say she has put the nail in the coffin of her political career. Her campaign had already worked toward that end, a subject for another article. But now, the race moves on without her, and those who have wondered if Nikki Haley is all about Nikki Haley feel certain that question has been answered. It is essential to defeat the disastrous presidency of Joe Biden, and Haley could have rallied the troops around the one person vying to do that. Instead, she chose to walk off the stage with a weak well-wish. That speaks volumes.
Perhaps she’s mulling it over and will come out later and endorse Trump, but she didn’t speak last night after the Super Tuesday annihilation, so she had plenty of time before taking the microphone Wednesday to have made that decision. Look, I’m a firm believer in standing for what you believe in, but I’m scratching my head if she believes Biden is a better choice than Trump, not to mention her track record regarding what she supposedly believes versus what she does.
Today marks a turn in the road toward November.
Well, she really blew it by not endorsing Trump. I don’t think there’s any way she will be taken seriously if she chooses to run for president in 2028. Too bad. 🤷🏻♀️
