Donald Trump Accepts the Republican Nomination for President: 'I Stand Before You in This Arena Only by the Grace of Almighty God'
Five days after former President Donald Trump was nearly assassinated during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, he stood behind the podium in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at the Republican National Convention and accepted the nomination to become the 47th President of the United States.
With an air of humility, he took the stage to address the convention. He began to share the story of what transpired Saturday evening at that rally. He stated early in his speech, “I’m not supposed to be here tonight.” The crowd erupted in a chant of, “Yes, you are. Yes, you are…” The former president thanked them but also corrected them, stating he knows otherwise: “I stand before you in this arena only by the grace of Almighty God.”
He continued his address to “all Americans.”
