Joe Biden Schools Howard University Graduates on 'White Supremacy'
Five Reasons This Needs to Stop
There is a definite irony in a speaker lecturing a roomful of college graduates about the horrors of white supremacy. This is what President Joe Biden did during his commencement address at historically black Howard University. It is rather oxymoronic to use such an occasion where achievement is being celebrated to highlight achievement-defying racism as he did:
He said he says these things wherever he goes. That’s because wherever he goes, he’s pandering. This kind of talk, too often spewed during commencement celebrations, needs to stop. Below are five reasons:
We have heard about racism since shortly after birth, compliments of our parents. We don’t need a white man to fill us in, much less one as privileged as Biden.
The constant conversations about racism have created a victim mentality that has done more damage than has ever instilled any pride.
Instead of reminding us of our past and attaching limitations as a result—you know, “the soft bigotry of low expectations”—why not help our future? No doubt, greater threats to these overachievers than so-called white supremacy are the borders the president has not secured, the respect around the world he has compromised, and the economy he has decimated. What they need is an answer to how they will survive in a nation that is obviously worse off since he has been in office.
