Those Responsible for Elder Abuse of Biden Should Face Consequences; Latest Evidence of Severe Cognitive Decline
We all know by now that President Joe Biden is not leading the country. He has shown signs of cognitive decline, and it appears to have grown progressively worse. My heart truly goes out to him because it’s painful to watch, but what angers me are those who have kept him out front, where he should not be, and are using him to maintain power. I have said it before, and I reiterate: this is elder abuse for which there should be consequences. Where is the person who has seen enough and is bold enough to call out everyone behind this inhumanity?
In the last few days alone, Biden has embarrassed himself (and the country) with comments that highlighted a lack of mental acuity and memory loss.
On Sunday, for example, at a campaign rally in Las Vegas, the president attempted to recount a story from a G7 meeting in 2021. However, in his recollection, he had a conversation with deceased President François Mitterrand of France, rather than current French President Emmanuel Macron. Biden said:
You know, right — right after I was elected, I went to what they call a G7 meeting, all the NATO leaders. And it was in — it was in the south of England. And I sat down and I said, “America is back.”
And Mitterand from Germany — I mean, from France — looked at me and said, said, “You know what? Why, how long you back for?”
Understand, anyone can misspeak. Biden misspoke when he said “Germany” instead of France—and he corrected himself. He did not correct himself, however, when he recalled a story about talking in 2021 to President Mitterrand, who was actually president from 1981 to 1995 and has been dead since 1996. The White House, however, did attempt to correct it cover up for it with a strikethrough of the transcript, as you see below:
That wasn’t the only memory issue of the week. On Wednesday, he attended three fundraising events, and, reportedly, at two of them when discussing January 6, he attempted to retell the same story from Las Vegas. Again, his version involved speaking to a dead leader during the 2021 G7 gathering. He said:
Then, Helmut Kohl of Germany looked at me and said, “What would you say, Mr. President, if you picked up The London Times tomorrow morning and learned that 1,000 people had broken down the doors, the doors of the British Parliament and killed some [people] on the way in [to] deny the prime minister to take office?”
Chancellor Kohl held the office from 1982 to 1998 and died in 2017. During that 2021 G7 summit, Angela Merkel was chancellor of Germany.
Some outlets are referring to these as gaffes. These are not gaffes. Gaffes are unintentional remarks that cause embarrassment. This is embarrassing, of course, for Biden and the country, but he wasn’t embarrassed at the moment because he wasn’t aware enough of what transpired to be capable of being embarrassed. This is more than that. This is a man dealing with decline in the presence of the world. Unlike some, I do not find it funny. I find it sad, and I find it infuriating that those around him clearly know what’s going on but are more concerned with maintaining power than they are with his well-being and the well-being of the country. But how long can this go on?
And look at the president here. This clip makes me cringe the most—out of sadness for him. This time, he didn’t say the wrong word or name. He couldn’t remember the word “Hamas” and had to be helped.
Those who insist these are minor momentary memory lapses that could happen to anyone are the ones who should be held accountable. These things are happening to Biden again and again, and not only do the American people deserve better; Biden deserves better. I say this, obviously, as someone who is no Democrat, no Biden fan, no supporter of the policies he (or whoever is running the show—probably Obama) espouses. But I am a decent human being, and every decent human being should want this elderly man to be somewhere relaxing, enjoying himself, doing whatever 81-year-old men going through cognitive issues should be doing. What I see in the last video looks like torture, but what I do not see are the people who should be held responsible for this elder abuse.
Furthermore, the case of the classified documents that were in the president’s care validates his severe cognitive issues. Special counsel Robert Hur’s 388-page report states, “Our investigation uncovered evidence that President Biden willfully retained and disclosed classified materials after his vice presidency when he was a private citizen,” though it also states that the evidence does not meet the “beyond a reasonable doubt” threshold. Therefore, Hur wrote, “We conclude that no criminal charges are warranted in this matter.”
But Hur’s observation of Biden’s mental state tells the real deal. The report has 20 or more references to “memory.” It specifically states that Biden’s “significantly limited” memory played a factor in the decision. He wrote, “We have also considered that, at trial, Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.”
The report further states:
In his interview with our office, Mr. Biden's memory was worse. He did not remember when he was vice president, forgetting on the first day of the interview when his term ended ("if it was 2013 - when did I stop being Vice President?"), and forgetting on the second day of the interview when his term began ("in 2009, am I still Vice President?"). He did not remember, even within several years, when his son Beau died.
