When we read the written words of the apostle Paul in prison saying, “For I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content,” many of us may think, “Well, that’s admirable,” or “I sure wish I could feel that way.” But if we were all honest, we’d have to say that there are many states we find ourselves in that render us anything but content. And if there ever was a state not to be content in it would be in space…stuck…for nine months. But Butch Wilmore’s testimony epitomizes contentment that could only come from his faith in God.

Most of us cannot stand to be stuck in traffic for 15 minutes or in line at the grocery store longer than five minutes. So imagine setting out for an eight-day adventure to the International Space Station, running into technical difficulties, and being stuck there for nine month. Nine months! There’s a woman who got pregnant after he and fellow astronaut, Suni Williams, left and gave birth before they returned.
