A couple of days ago, I saw a comment on my YouTube video from someone stating that she is spending more time reading the Bible so she can keep anxiety down. Her comment didn’t go along with what my video was about, which is what made it stand out even more to me. I don’t know how many people have seen her comment, but her words, brief though they were, is a message to all.

In a video about sports and culture, a comment about anxiety, faith, and God’s Word says a lot. While it may seem out of place, is it really? Often, we hear people talk about sports being a respite from the daily grind. It’s one reason people prefer not to have politics mixed in with their dose of basketball, baseball, or football. It’s hard to find even one person not battling something—whether it’s a family issue, a work issue, or a country issue. I don’t know if I’ve heard more people talk about mental health issues, anxiety, fear, and depression as I hear now.

The United States exchanging blows with Iran has certainly caused concern for many. People don’t understand that it’s in the best interest of every country to stop Iran from having nuclear weapons. A people who believe it is their mission from God to bring “Death to Israel” and “Death to America” cannot go unchecked. Most people do not get into the weeds of that reality. All they know is they want to be safe, they want their children safe, and they view battling with anyone as the antithesis of that safety. Try convincing them that stern action must be taken at times to bring about and maintain that safety they so desperately want.
